A Photographer’s Journey - From Passion to Profession

“In 1989 I embarked on a six-month cycling adventure around the South Island of New Zealand, carrying so much camera gear I could barely lift my bike! That formative journey sparked a lifelong dedication to landscape photography, which soon took me around the globe as a cruise ship photographer. It was during a visit to Alaska that I was deeply inspired by a powerful exhibition of landscape images, an experience that left an enduring impression and ultimately shaped the path of my artistic career.

After returning home to New Zealand in 2003, I began experimenting with large-format inkjet printing on canvas. The response to my early work was overwhelmingly positive, encouraging me to refine my style and build a dedicated audience. What began as an exploration soon evolved into a fulfilling vocation, one that continues to challenge and inspire me every day.

Today I remain committed to using only the finest tools and materials. My Phase One XF medium format camera is more than just equipment, it’s an extension of my vision, enabling me to capture scenes with breathtaking depth and detail. Each image is the result of thoughtful planning and precise timing, crafted at the precise intersection of light, subject and location. In this scary age of digital manipulation, I take great pride in maintaining the authenticity of my images, true to what my eyes witnessed. Whenever possible, I document my process on location, offering a glimpse behind the scenes.”

Peter produces his prints in-house using the cutting-edge HP Z9 printer with genuine HP pigment inks, printing exclusively on archival grade canvas and 100% cotton-rag fine art paper from Breathing Color, one of the most respected names in the industry.
