Shannon Turuwhenua is a Wood Sculptor based in North Waikato. He is part of a Whanau based Collective (Past Present Future) that covers multiple art disciplines. Shannon creates his art from native and exotic timbers from around the country. Where possible the timber is reclaimed / recycled.
Each piece is handcrafted and as a result no two pieces are exactly the same Shannon takes inspiration from objects in daily life. Recreating them into larger pieces of art.
Shannon is of Māori (Tūhoe), Scottish and Irish descent
