Pā o te hā in Stone - Small Table Runner Collaboration by Shane & Ariana (Ngāti Toarangatira, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāpuhi)
Dimensions: 750 x 345 mm
Pā o te hā means 'meeting of the life essence'. The pattern was inspired by a combination of kowhaiwhai (Māori painted ornamentation) Norse and Celtic knotwork designs and represents the coalescence of my Māori and Pākehā ancestry.
Shane is a textile artist residing in the vibrant city of Wellington, Aotearoa. Her passion for design and architecture and lifelong love affair with textiles converge in uniquely designed items for interiors.
For the last 18 years Shane has created display cushions, table runners and wall hangings, bringing together materials that evoke pride in our unique place in the world. She incorporates organic elements such as feathers, pāua shell and woven matting to create a work that celebrates the diversity of Aotearoa- Textures of Aotearoa. A new range, Pā o te Hā ,has been designed in collaboration with herdaughter Ariana (Ngāti Toarangatira, Ngāti Raukawa, Ngāpuhi).
