Bucket Fountain
Bucket Fountain
‘Bucket Fountain’ - Limited Edition, Fine Art Print.
The Bucket Fountain was first installed in Wellington's Cuba Street in 1969. After trams stopped running in 1967, Cuba Street became temporarily pedestrianised. Local businesses went on to petition Council for the layout to become a permanent fixture. Cuba Mall was then launched by Mayor Frank Kittsin 1969 and the now iconic Bucket Fountain was installed.
Originally named the ‘water mobile’, the fun kinetic sculpture was created by Burren and Keen, and Graham Allardice and is now recognised as one of Wellington’s most famous landmarks.
The painting also has the iconic ‘Blues Brothers’ casually walking through the scene and Aretha Franklins character ‘Mrs Murphy’ looking on with her trademark ‘hand on hip’ pose.
The original artwork was created using quality watercolour and acrylic paint, ink and pencil on watercolour paper. The original image was not altered in any way to create this archival quality, limited edition fine art print. Photo credit - Lucy Revill
