Collection: Ali Shannon
Ali is interested in both the design and the construction process and is continually trying new ideas. Each piece of jewellery is handcrafted - no two are exactly alike. The principal materials used in Ali's jewellery are silver and rolled gold. These are often mixed or used with pounamu (New Zealand Greenstone), paua shell, semi-precious stones, brass and copper.
All her earrings have sterling silver or rolled gold ear wires. Rolled gold (sometimes known as gold filled) is not to be confused with gold plating. It is much more valuable and tarnish resistant. Rolled gold jewellery is made from solid gold and filled with other alloys such as rhodium, brass, and sterling silver. It is an actual layer of gold pressure bonded to the other metal and does not flake or rub off or turn colour. The rolled gold Ali uses is nickel free.
In fact, anyone who can wear gold can wear rolled gold without worries of any allergic reaction to the jewellery.
