Tony Harrington

Born and bred in Hawkes Bay and growing up as a Pakeha New Zealander Tony attended a typically bi-cultural provincial school.

Through his schooling, friends and extended family as well as time travelling overseas he has developed a great respect and appreciation of Maori culture.

The imagery in his work is influenced by traditional Maori art forms. Rural and coastal kiwi pastimes are represented along with pop culture and songs. These are often reinterpreted to create a greater appreciation of our cultural landscape.
