Derived from Nature

Derived from Nature

A celebration of the natural world and our connection to it through creative practice, exploring forms that emerge through collaboration with the earth.

Derived from Nature brings together a diverse group of artists whose practices are deeply connected to the landscapes, materials, and environments of Aotearoa.

Spanning a range of disciplines, the exhibition includes painting, sculpture, glass, and textiles, with each artist interpreting the natural world through their own medium. From coastal landscapes to hand-carved timber, woven fibres, and molten glass, these works form a dialogue between artist and environment.

Through processes of layering, carving, weaving, and forming, the exhibition explores transformation, how raw materials become objects of beauty, memory, and meaning. These works celebrate the richness, fragility, and enduring presence of the world around us.

Opening Night:
5-7pm Friday 23 October

Artists:
Sarah Albisser, Juliet Best, Rachel Walker, Shannon Turuwhenua, Shane Morris & Heather Kremen
