Based in Banks Peninsula Canterbury, Sarah works from her studio making beautiful hand thrown ceramic pieces with rich glazes that echo the colours of the New Zealand landscape and coastlines. Her interest lies mainly with form and utility - the shape and lines of a vessel, how the piece sits on a surface and might feel resting in the hand. Her pieces are tactile, the forms classic. “My aim is to make honest pots that sit quietly, in harmony with their surroundings”.
All my ceramics are oven and microwave safe. (They have been through a 1200 degree kiln firing, so unless your customer is into some deeply experimental cooking everything should be fine!) But if the vessel is hot from an oven always place on a mat or coaster to safe guard thermal shock from a cold surface eg: a bench top, stainless steel etc. I alway suggest the use of a coaster especially for protecting wooden surfaces from any scratching.
The heart shaped bowls are great cereal bowls, or small noodle bowls and they can be used as serving bowls on a table too.
The scoop dishes are designed to rest in your palm, the hole is for chopsticks to sit as they make great entrée dishes or look fantastic with a few pieces of Sushi. They are also fab for desserts too.
