Nicholas Duval-Smith was born in Dunedin in 1969. He studied at the Otago Polytechnic School of Fine Art from 1988 - 1990, majoring in sculpture, and again from 2007 - 2008, majoring in jewellery. He has exhibited in Dunedin, Wellington and Auckland, and lives in Motueka.
